Country Tuscan Pizza

Roasted chicken, bacon lardons and caramelized onions are topped with fresh thyme and Mozzarella Cheese and baked until the cheese is smooth and melted. To serve, a grating of sharp Aged Asiago Cheese is added, and then dollops of sweet and rich Ricotta Cheese. This rustic mix of ingredients sits atop a creamy Stella® Fontinella® Cheese béchamel sauce, to give this savory pizza a pleasant heartiness.

Ingredients

  • Pizza Dough, 6 oz.
  • Stella® Fontinella® Cheese Béchamel, 3 oz.
  • Mozzarella Cheese, 2 cups
  • Caramelized Onions, ¼ cup
  • Slab Bacon, cut ¼”
  • lardons, ¼ cup
  • Roasted Chicken, shredded, 3 oz (weight)
  • Ricotta Cheese, 1 T
  • Asiago Cheese, ¼ cup
  • Fresh Thyme, chopped, 2 tsp

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450° F.
  2. Rolla pizza dough to a 1/4" thick or thinner, depending on preference.
  3. Place pizza dough in the oven and par-cook for 2 minutes to allow dough to set.
  4. Pull dough from the oven and top with Stella® Fontinella® Cheese béchamel and Mozzarella Cheese. Put back in oven for 8-12 minutes, or until pizza reaches desired doneness, color and cheese has melted thoroughly.
  5. Top Pizza with Ricotta, Asiago Cheese and fresh thyme, spread evenly around the entire pizza.
  6. Slice and serve immediately.

Try topping with shrimp, different herbs and spices for a unique pizza

  • Lardons upscale many recipes calling for bacon pieces. Cook slowly over medium heat to render a crispy texture on the outside, meaty texture on the inside.
